Announcement: State of the Blog 1

Hello Readers!

It’s been almost a month and a half since I started this blog. I started Korean Variety Recaps because I’m a huge fan of <Game of Thrones> and always read multiple recaps and listened to various podcasts after every episode, and thought it would be awesome to have that kind of community for other shows that I watch.

The past month and a half have been both exciting and stressful. Exciting because this blog has gotten more traffic than I had expected and stressful because writing about shows is extremely time-consuming. I’m sure many of you have noticed the copious grammar mistakes which happen because I write these posts late at night after work. I will usually go back during the day and edit errors, but I don’t always have time to do so.

I’d like to continue blogging long-term, but in order to do that, I need to take a step back and figure out some things. For that reason, this blog will be on a “cool-down” period for the next two weeks. That means that I will only be blogging about 50% as much as usual. And with that extra time, I will work on improving my site design, brush up on my grammar & writing skills, and come up with a new recap lineup.

I will continue to recap the following shows as usual

  • Infinite Challenge
  • Running Man
  • Society Game
  • Get It Beauty

All other shows will be up in the air. During the next two weeks, I’ll be looking over variety shows that are currently airing and add a few more to that lineup. Of course, I only write about shows that I personally enjoy watching, but at the same time, it’s always nice to recap shows that are popular because I get that much more feedback.

Please leave a comment below if there are any shows that you would like for me to consider recapping. 🙂

  1. Hi, KVR! Thank you for providing the recaps, especially shows that are not translated to English. I would prefer if you translate shows that have a very low chance to be translated, talk shows such as Video Star, Dongchimi, or On My Way to You.

If it is too much probably a mini recap to give a rough explanation on what’s happening in the show (which probably will still be difficult if you’re working on talk shows, but I love talk shows so much!)

  2. Thank you for the recaps! Your recaps are really succinct and concise, which is really good. Now I have dramabeans for drama recaps and you for my variety recaps 🙂

Oh how I wished you have started this when The Genius was still on, it would’ve been such a good platform to talk about the show because I was always dying to discuss the Genius before subs are out. (I hated spoiler tabs in threads)

There’s going to be The Genius 5 (praying, wishful thinking)…

Also, please do not be stressed out about always keeping up with your posts. Just like volunteer subbers like God bumdi, you should do it because you enjoy it and have time for it, not because you are pressured to do it. Sometimes life just happens and I’m sure all your readers understand if you need a break.

So keep up the good work, 수고했어요, and fighting!

  3. wow I thought a team of people were maintaining this site! It’s baffling that only you are pumping out so many quality recaps! I enjoy your tone of writing and appreciate the sarcasm 😉
